Juddy and Rachel are on mission in Vanuatu.

Rachel is volunteering at Teouma Christian Academy as a mentor to the teachers. The school employs 10 local teachers who have little or no teacher training. The school is on a YWAM base and is a mission expression of the base. Rachel has been implementing a literacy programme which teaches the children phonics and reading. The school is primarily run through donations. Although parents pay fees to cover teachers’ salaries, everything else is covered by donations. This includes the curriculum, building, stationery, and resources.

Rachel’s heart for the school is:
‍-To ensure the children receive a quality education; including proficiency in reading and writing in English.

-To train the teachers, increasing their skills to deliver interesting, interactive lessons.

-To see both students and staff develop an inquisitive, independent thinking mindset.

Juddy is working as a building mentor for 60 local men. He is training them in all areas of construction, from concrete work to electrics and plumbing. Most of the men have limited training or qualifications. His heart is to see them learn and grow in their profession and ultimately gain a qualification.
